Artist in Residency

Galerie Huit Arles hosts a multi-disciplinary artist residency since 2008, with the aim to provide a creative and inspirational environment for both established and emerging artists including writers, photographers, composers, academics, archeologists, curators, painters, actors and poets. Gallerist, writer and heritage conservationist Julia de Bierre opens her house-gallery to talented artists of all disciplines to create work in the heart of Provence.

Artists in Residence (AiR) at Galerie Huit Arles live and work within the thick stone walls of a prestigious, beautifully restored 17th century mansion. Exhibition spaces and convivial living quarters occupy the ground and lower floors. The upper floors comprise occasional seminar rooms, guest rooms and self-contained apartments for artists residencies. AiR at Galerie Huit provides a retreat from the distraction of everyday life and a valuable opportunity for artists to focus solely on their creative work.
